Port Douglas is a 45 minute boat ride from the magnificent fringing reefs at Low Isles.  This is a wonderful location to view a hugh variety of soft corals, fish and of course green turtles.  Turtles breed at the Low Isles and return to lay their eggs on the sand cays here.  Research and conservation by the resident ranger and scientists has ensured that the government bodies such as Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and James Cook University have the data at hand to preserve this location. Local tour operators who are also passionate about reef conservation and preservation , do their part to ensure the health of the reef remains for generations to come.
